Do something nice...

Hello lovelies,

CNN has a list of groups accepting donations for Tsunami Relief. Here's a link:

CNN.com's list of organizations accepting donations for Tsunami Relief

This week alone I have spent thirty dollars on music, 25 bucks off a gift card on some new shirts, about another 35 (25 of which I borrowed from my mom and still have to pay back) to use on food from various eating establishments (maybe more, I've kind of lost track of how often I go to resturants/diners/take out places and how often I actually have to pay when I go), a considerable bit of change on late holiday gifts for friends and family (no way am I actually saying how much I spent, even giving a hint of how much someone's gift cost is not very kosher in most cases, even if it's a lump sum of how much I spent on everyone all together), yet another 25 dollars or so which I have to remember to pay back to my Dad for getting me the Garden State DVD (though I could probably get away not doing that, but I hate mooching off my parents for that kinda stuff), plus some various other random things I probably forgot that I spent money on.

If a person can spend that much money on crap she doesn't really need in one week and still bitch and moan needlessly about being broke, the least she can do is give a few bucks to some people who really are in need. So now I ask that if you can, everyone who visits this page today visit that link (I chose CNN 'cause I trust them to not have any sketchy evil money grubbing orgs. on there), choose a group and give a buck or two. Even just a dollar. Every dollar counts, right? Or find your own way of donating. Even to something not for Tsunami Relief. Do you know that so many people all over the world are donating things to help with the tsunami relief that it's getting backed up at the airports? And it's probably still not enough, but the fact that so many people all over the world are trying to help makes me feel three hundred times better about the world and all the people in it. So yeah, basically all I'm saying is go help somebody out. I think my New Years Resolution (besides the same old "do well in school be a better person" self help type crap I usually do) is going to be to give a few dollars to a charity every month. I may not be rich, but I'm a hell of a lot better off than a lot of people out there in the world. So...that's that. Go help someone. Rant done. Happy New Year, loves. Have a good (SAFE) night and a wonderful new year. Make the world a better place. And please, if you're going to drink too much, do not vomit on my shoes and remember to sleep on your side.

All my love,
Robin

P.S. Spread the love. If you've got a blog and you haven't already, post a link to somewhere that'll help with disaster relief or some other kind of relief. Tell someone else to donate or volunteer or help out. Doesn't really work unless we all start yelling at people to be nice to each other, now does it?

Happy New Year!

Hyper much? Perhaps I had slightly too much caffeine today..?

Lauren Graham is so cute. She's on Leno and kinda talks like she's really excited or afraid that she's not going to be able to say everything she wants before she forgets it. And she's got this kinda giggly thing going on in her voice. It might be annoying if she actually talked like that, but I think she was just nervous. My grandmother met her and said she was really nice and I think she would have noticed if she talked all speedy and giggly all the time. Hooray for Lauren Graham! And also for her cute outfit.

And also, my dad found me a copy of the Garden State DVD at Tower! Hooray! Yay and thanks to my dad. I had already posted a comment on Zach Braff's blog saying I'd looked in three stores today and couldn't find it and how he was turning me into some kind of psycho fangirl who harasses store clerks looking for DVD's I should have already known would be sold out.

Happy New Year's Eve Day! Whee!!!!!!

Attn. Joseph

The Postal Service is a BAND. In case you thought I was talking about the actual US Postal Service. Who I supposre are also good at what they do, but I'm not so sure if they're that great on guitar. I mean, I'm sure there are some mailmen/women who can rock out like the best of them, but...

In answer to your question...I totally have WAY too much time on my hands at the present time. Wheeee.

Very good.

Rilo Kiley = Very good.

The Postal Service = Very good.

Just so you all know.

Anyway, I want to go buy Garden State on DVD, but I'm rather nervous that it's all sold out. I slept most of the day. Bad Robin.

I very much need something to do tonight. Ho hum.

Sorry, I'm rather boring today.

Monday, December 27, 2004

It's so cold I could vomit. But hopefully I won't.

C chord whore

I am not allowed to buy anymore music from itunes for at least a month...yes....that is the new rule....

Bad Robin. Bad.

Ladida-da

I tried eggnog tonight. At first my dad gave me some with some rum in it, but I took one sip and was overpowered by the rumness of it and hand it off to my mom. That was kind of very disappointing 'cause I was definitely having a "give me some damn rum" kinda day. I tried some eggnog without rum, and it kinda tasted like really strong liquid juicy fruit. Eh. I had about two sips of that and was done 'cause....I like my juicy fruit in gum form, thanks.

This morning we took my grandmother to check out an assisted living place. The place we saw was REALLY nice. It's big and has tons of stuff and a fancy chef who cooks everything and wears a big funny hat and nurses and private rooms and bathrooms and everything. We all thought my grandmother would do really well there, we met some of the residents and they were all really friendly. One woman seemed like she could totally be my Grandma's best friend. The only one who wasn't completely convinced was my grandmother, of course. But I'm pretty sure she'll end up there one way or another, and I'm pretty sure she'll be a lot happier living there than living like she is now. I hope. I really hope she decides on her own that she wants to go there and that way it'll be way easier than having us try and force her into it. And much more pleasant.

Ladida...Merry Christmas!!!

Happy Christmas!

Miracle on 34th Street is on AMC all day...whee! Great movie, such a classic. You seriously need to watch it. It's really great.

They also seem to be playing both the colorized and uncolorized....the uncolorized rocks much harder core than the colorized...but it's still a good movie either way. Enjoy. :-)

I want some cookies...

HBO's new movie of the hour seems to be The Last Samurai. I like that movie. The music is so pretty. Plus I have a crush on Katsumoto's son. But I totally am not much for Tom Cruise usually. Him and his scientologist ways. He thinks psychiatry is eeeevil and therefore I am slightly grumpy at him. Plus he has weird teeth.

And I'm hungry and it's 3:30 AM....damn...oh well....

Happy Christmas Eve Day!!

Retraction? Unretraction? Just plain traction?

It's possible the radio misinformed me as to what actually was going on at the high school with the concert last night, and therefore made me look dumb and therefore the radio must die....but it's also possible that other places are misinforming me and therefore....I don't know. But I don't know how many people showed up. I do know a lot of reporters showed up. And that channel 5 called us Grinches. No fair. And they didn't interview anyone who supports the districts decision, either....way to not cover all sides! Booo....Of course that is Fox so really, what was I expecting?

I get too upset over this and I'm not sure why, and I know it's possibly silly...but hey, at least I'm standing up for my beliefs, right? I mean, there's all these people speaking out and getting all up in arms upset over it who have the opposite opinion of me, why can't I get upset, too?

Yeah...why am I awake this early? Who really knows....

Double double, toil and trouble....

So while I saw Grandma-sitting I heard something on the radio about the fake concert thingy that Bogota-man was holding. Apparently there was a bunch of media there expecting some big goings on, and he thought there'd be like 100 people there supporting him. Would you like to hear what the radio said that grand total of Bogota-man supporters there were out there? 25*. HA. Guess my standing around with a sign wasn't even really necessary, huh? The guy on the radio said it seemed more like the residents of Maplewood and South Orange would rather just move on and stop being part of the national spotlight than deal with this shmuck of a guy. Maybe they didn't say shmuck. I don't really think reporters say shmuck. I usually don't even say shmuck. But that's besides the point. Tee hee hee...take that Bagota-man.

Although now the school district is being sued....read this on the The South Orange Journal Weblog. Blech. I'm so glad my tax dollars will end up being wasted on this. And see, when I used to say that, it just meant my parents tax dollars. But now I pay taxes. So it's even more annoying. Booo lawsuits. Boooooo.

I so need a shower.

*Wait, now someone's saying it was like 200...oy...I'm so confused...

::yawn::

Well, unfortunetely I have no option about whether or not I can go hold a sign across the street from Bogota man's concert because I have to babysit my grandmother. Which I'm kinda supposed to be doing now, but she was napping so I decided to go home for a couple of hours 'cause I'm also reaaally tired (there was drama this morning that kept me from being allowed to sleep..:-( )

But anyway, I have to go back there around the time of the concert. Boo. Oh well. Perhaps someone else will do it? Hehe. Byyyeee.

What do we want....?

So I'm thinking of doing something that might make me unpopular/get made fun of a lot. I wrote about that random guy from out of town who's coming to CHS to sing Christmas songs. He wants to be the republican nominee for Governor. So yeah, I'm kind of thinking of standing across the street from the people doing the "illegal" concert with a sign that says "Stop exploiting our school for your political gain"...or something more amusing than that. But yeah.....people will totally make fun of me if I do that....which is making me kind of cringe....

See, when I was in 7th grade I held a silent protest at my after school program 'cause they wouldn't let us go outside, hehe. The stuff that bothered me at age 12, huh? So anyone, my friend and I basically just walked around the gym with a sign saying silent protest made from notebook paper. A bunch of kids even signed it. Except after that when I was on the way out one of the teachers stopped me to tell me why we couldn't go outside and blah blah blah..alright, that was embarassing, but whatever, she was a bitch anyway. But the next day EVERYONE was making fun of us. INCLUDING TEACHERS. IN FRONT OF THE OTHER KIDS. After that my mom got so mad she called up the head of the program, bitched her out, and pulled me out of after school. So I have bad experience on the protest front...we'll see...we'll see...

There ain't room in this town for the both of us...

So there's all this drama going on in our school district over to carol or not to carol. I'm more on the liberal side of this, I think, but I have been persuaded to relax my beliefs on it a little. I don't think we should sing songs like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in school or songs that talk about praising Jesus 'cause he's totally the man. I'm willing to make exceptions on that for songs like Bach and such where mention of Jesus is made, but not like "Hey, everybody, break dance if ya love Jesus!" I don't really think that school is the place for religion at all, but I also know that there is some very artistic music written in a religious spirit which I suppose would be okay. But still, I was very much not liking all the Jesus songs we sang in the beginning of my high school career. I think maybe there can be some kind of compromise on the situtation, but it's gotta be handled EXTREMELY carefully by the right people.

Anyway, I was actually writing not to talk about that specifically, but more to talk about all the annoying assholes who are getting involved now. The parents music committee is getting calls from lawyers asking if they want to sue, some mayor from BOGOTA (where the hell is Bogota?! Isn't that some kind of architectural structure or something?*) is holding an "illegal" holiday concert outside the school before the band ensemble concert on Tuesday. Whaat? Lame. The guy's not even from here! Stay the hell out of my town, psycho! Stop trying to use our school for your own political gain. Boooooo. Yeah, it's a very controversial subject in THIS town, but it's OUR controversy, not yours. If you're not in this school district, stay the hell out of it, we'll handle it on our own thank you very much. Losers have nothing better to do. Jeez. The parents don't want to sue their own school, what good is that going to do? Spend their money and cheat the school out of money? No one wins but the lawyers. Plus it brings a ton of negative attention to us, like we don't have enough already. And PS why is everyone calling out just Maplewood over this? It's the Maplewood/SOUTH ORANGE school district people, it ain't just one town, damnit. Maplewood gets all the shit. Anyway. Lawyers, outsiders, random people who have no business in this...get the hell out...find something to bitch about in your own town. Losers.

*correction...what I was thinking of was a PAGOTA not a Bogota...still...lame...and Bogota's not even in this COUNTY. Gah. Totally having to urge to stand by their "illegal" concert saying with a sign saying "Go back to Bogota"

Ladida

I'm hungry and we are severely lacking in decent snacking food at my house. What are good snack foods? I seriously miss mallomars...mmmm....

Yeah, so like I said, I'm hungry and kinda boring at the moment, too. Ladida.

Ew, I just realized that I'm now stuck with looking at that picture anytime I want to go to my blog. Yick. That picture could cause infertility. I'm so serious.

"They're not cute, they are what you see before you die..."

Strange Love: Brigitte Nielsen and Flavor Flav in their very own reality TV show
I live in fear and awe.

Also, why do all these people think that someone flashing a boob is gonna scar children? I'm pretty sure most kids have seen a boob before. It'd be kinda sad if they hadn't. I mean, I'm pretty sure that most kids have been breast fed at least once in their lives. Silly American censors.

Boob twisting action...

Anyone know what I'm talkin' about? Anyway....

I so hate those new AOL commercial's sooooo much. They're all "Oh, look at us, we're a family company, we listen to our customers, we really care about you!" But no, they're not, they're just EVIL OVERLORDS trying to TAKE OVER YOUR SOUL.

Or something like that. Plus the mom in them is really annoying.

Also, South Park can be really funny, but looking at Mr. Hanky makes me feel like watching PAX tv for the next year only so I won't be faced with singing and dancing poo.

I so need a job...

Man am I bored. Guh. Nooothing to do but sit and knit*. Hehe. Sit and knit. That rhymes.

....

No, I am not stoned.

Everyone's busy studying for finals like mad. So no one will talk to me 'cause they're all "Ooh ooh I'm smart and need to study ladida." Boo.

Also Symantec is so trying to rip me off. My AntiVirus stuff kept going "Renew me! Renew me! Renew me or I'll eat your computer! Well not really me specifically, but I'll let a virus in that will eat your computer..."

Yeah, seriously...it said that. Anyway, so I went to renew it and it goes "Oh, you need this key thingie to do this...call this number and get it..." So I call the number (which may I add was NOT an 800 number...not cool, Symantec)..which gave me another number to call (this time an 800 number, thankfully) which sent me to...I dunno...some guy in India. Or possibly an Indian guy in California. Still, he had an accent that was kinda hard to understand 'cause I was on a cell phone and hey, he was in India. Maybe. Anyway, the guy is all "What kind of antivirus do you have?" and such and makes me look up random things on my computer.

So I go "Okay, I have the 2003 version," to which he responds, "Okay, we don't support that anymore, you're going to have to buy the 2005 addition," to which I respond "WHAT?! That's such crap...I mean, that's just stupid!" I'm pretty sure he probably thinks I'm just some hot tempered jerk of a stupid girl who didn't know what version she had or where to look for that information and then got mad 'cause her software's out of date. But seriously. I haven't even had this computer for a year and a half, the software came with it, and already I have to buy new software? Yeah, that's a total rip-off. The new software is $50! I have no job, I barely have any money, and the money I do have usually goes towards feeding me or putting gas in my car. Or buying some people Christmas presents, which I still have to do, 'cause I can't think of anything to make for people other than cookies and Mari's already got the baking idea. So anyway, I'm rather mad at the AntiVirus community for making me buy new software already while the new software's practically still new. Booo, Symantec. Booooooooo!!!!!

But I think Josh might hook me up with some antivirus goodness without me having to spend silly amounts of money on something I'm just going to have to replace in a year anyway since the company'll stop supporting it for no good reason. Hooray for friends with awesome technology skills.

*I got some yarn and knitting needles as one of my "cheap silly no real reason for getting them other than my parents like giving presents every night of Hannukah" presents. That was a run-on sentence. Anyway, I'm knitting a scarf. Neat, huh? Like a little old lady...but not so old...whee!!!!

'Cause when you go to heaven they give you wings...

I slept way too much today. When I got home, that is. I tried to read for awhile but was out like a light. Soo sleepy.

So yeah, I had my Acting final today. I had this kinda funny monologue about a first grade Catholic school girl talking about the church and the rules and there was a whole long part about Jewish people not being allowed to go to heaven. But at the end she goes "I hope I didn't hurt anybody's feelings, that's just the way it is." I've definitely known people like that before, like my best friend in middle school who got sent to some Catholic summer camp and came back going "They said that if you're Jewish you're gonna go to hell and that you have to let Jesus into your heart or you won't go to heaven!!!!" and was completely freaked out. And I've even done stuff like that. Like when I was about 6 or so we had some special Passover rolls at Passover. I had some friend come over and I told him he couldn't have any of the rolls because he wasn't Jewish, and I felt bad, but I thought that was the rule. So I kind of related to the little six year old who had it drilled into her that if a Jewish person walked under a crucifix it'd start to bleed. I mean not exactly to that part about her, but...you get it...I hope.

So yeah, the only skirt I have that passes as "Catholic school girl" is "Slutty Britney Spears-esque Catholic school girl". Which isn't exactly cool for a 6 year old. But whatever, I wore it, I got laughed at, and oh well. It was kinda amusing. I kept my sneakers on and untied my shoelace and put my hair up not very well so by the time I got to class it was kind messy and falling all over. It went really well, I'm rather proud of myself. Hehe...proud of myself for being able to play a little girl really well. Ha. And guess what? I got an A+!!! Yes!!! Finally!!! The whole semester in that class I had yet to get an A+...A's, A-'s, B's...no A+. So I'm very proud and very happy. :-)

Gone fishin'...

Say something nice to me. I just might say something nice back.

It's alliiiiiiiive!!!!

Wanna hear something gross? Of course you do. So yesterday my mom heated up some lo mein for me from the Chinese food we'd had the day before. I started to eat it, but it tasted kinda...not right...so after a couple of bites, into the garbage it went.

Then today my dad says to me "Oh, you know how that lo mein tasted gross yesterday? Well I think it's because that was some really old lo mein that had just been sitting around in there, 'cause the stuff from the other day is still in here."

::vomit::

We hadn't had Chinese food in WEEKS!! Euch!!!

See see and I totally had dreams about barfing last night and this is why!!!!! Blech!!! So gross!! Haven't my poor intestines been through enough?!?!

..just like you and me...

I wanted to update yesterday but Blogger was being a little punk bastard and not working right.

So here's something....when I was really little my parents told me that I always should say thank you when someone gives me a gift right away and not to open it until I say thank you. And I still do it. Like, automatically. The same thing goes about my mother yelled at me once for running across the neighbors lawn and told me you're not ever supposed to walk across someone else's lawn. And to this day, I still don't, even if I know them and are friends with them and go to their house a lot. Weird, no? Amazing the things that stick with you. "Say thank you before unwrapping things" sure..."Always do your homework"....not so much.

Sleepy. My aunt's here. Whee! I <3 my aunt, she is way neat. P.S. I accidently wrote <4 at first.....kinda looks like a duck, no?

OH and GUESS WHAT I GOT FOR HANNUKAH!!! A FREAKIN' IPOD, BABY! How awesome is that? My parents and aunt and uncle got it for me (and apparently my crazy grandma as well, although she is not aware of that, according to my mother, which just means "Grandma didn't get you anything 'cause she doesn't even realize it's Hannukah"..poor Grandma). My mom had told me last week that I was getting a really good Hannukah present for helping with my grandma. I asked her if I was getting a puppy, but no. An iPod's pretty freakin' good, though (only running 2nd to a puppy :-P)! I mean..wow...I feel spoiled. And highly grateful. I kinda feel silly for getting any other presents at all (they're just little things like a keychain or magnets, that kinda stuff, but still...) 'cause..an iPod..geez. My mom told me they decided to get that for me after I spent a night at my grandmother's once a month or two ago because she kept calling the house at like 1 in the morning thinking it was an okay time to be calling people. When I got there she'd been up and all dressed (sort of, she apparently was having some confusion as to the difference between a slip and a skirt..or maybe she had just been in the process of getting undressed? I don't know) and acting like it was the middle of the day or something, so I went to her house at about 2 in the morning and got her to chill out and go to bed finally and stayed till morning. Anyway. Like I said, I feel spoiled, but really grateful. I don't have to carry around my huge thing of CD's anymore! And I have all my music in one place! So awesome! My parents are cool people (despite any statements to the contrary I have made in the past or may make in the future), and not just 'cause they give me pretty things.

So Happy Hannukah to all my Jewish and even non-Jewish friends. Enjoy this whole festival of lights dealie. It's pretty neat.

P.S. Random flashback to Mike singing the Hannukah song for me in chorus senior year. I <3 you, Mike.

I still remember the theme music to Eureka's Castle...sorta...

P.S. This cheesy movie has BOB NEWHART beating the shit out of all these bad-ass cult dudes! Awesome!

I accidently wrote "Bog" for a second instead of Bob. That made me think of those fuzzy pimpley kinda dudes on Eureka's Castle who really liked peanut butter....I miss Eureka's Castle...::sigh::

SEX....I'm feeling unoriginal today, sorry....

Blogger is lying I definitely have more that 813 posts, I don't remember how long it's said that for....

Noah Wyle is in some cheesy-ass Indiana Jones type rip-off...and it's great...'cause I have a crush on him. He is wonderful nerdy goodness.

Heh, look at that, I actually talked about a BOY movie star I had a crush on...tee hee...usually I'm all like "KeiraKnightlyissohotdrool*"....man, if you're just walkin' in at this point in the blog...hehe...I'm not a lesbian! Seriously...except with Mari, but...shhh....

*I'm kinda mad at Keira Knightly..'cause I found out she's exactly ONE DAY older than me...and yet is like 324532598 light years hotter....what?!

And here's something else:

MyFriend: i think i need to bed myself
Me : yeah, that sounds like you're going to go and make sweet sweet love to yourself

G'night...

Like a polaroid picture....

How bad do I feel for the little girl with the over-permed hair in the "Fit 'n Fun Care Bears" commercial who has to wobble around like a moron and scream "I'm shakin' it!"

Poor kid's gonna have some tough times once she gets to middle school....

Mm...sleepy....

Guh, Jennifer Love Hewitt annoys me even in CARTOON form...

I feel like I should write something but I don't know what to write...so...

Lalalalalalalalalala

I fascinate myself.
